Turn Desire Into Dicipline and Dedication

Pinned Image

You can have the desire to lose weight and get fit, but if you don't have the dicipline and dedication to commit to healthy eating and exercise, your desire just becomes a wish.  I believe in you!  You can do this! One day at a time, one step at a time, try walking for 10 minutes.  Tomorrow bump it up to 15 mins.  Before you know it you'll be walking 1 hour and you'll be feeling great.  If you have to be addicted to anything....make it exercise!

FIRST YOU MUST BELIEVE and Dance Dance Dance!

Pinned Image
Yesterday I served on a panel to promote motivation to the Lighten Up For Life Program .  My theme was and always is....first you have to be an athlete....by that I mean....first you must believe.  Believe you can get fit and healthy, believe you can lose weight, believe you can exercise.  You have to visualize in your mind what you want to achieve--how you want to look--the weight you want to be and you have to believe you can get there and commit to that belief. And then you have to earnestly work at it. I demonstrated some "at home" dancing where I suggested you plug in your earphones, crank up the music and just start dancing in your own living room for at least an hour 'non-stop'.  Believe me it works to burn calories and get steps in (if you're shooting for 10,000 steps/day).  Yesterday morning I danced 1- 1/2 hours and got in 8,643 steps.  It's fun, it's great exercise and you can do it in the privacy and comfort of your own home.
At the weigh in today (and in the last 9 months) I've lost 57 pounds, 13" on my waist and 10" on my hips. Tomorrow I'll try to get a before and after picture posted.

These are a few of the songs I dance to....they can all be downloaded from ITunes. Look for Power Walking and Exercise music re-mixes and you can find tons of them.  (Note: be careful of those that show 'Explicit' as the language can be really 'explicit'.  If you want more song suggestions to walk, power walk, dance, lift weights, do planks to etc. just send me a comment and I'll add some more suggestions.

I'M POSSIBLE....NO EXCUSES

Hi all.....well I've been a little off track this past week...but I'm back and I'll be at my core/cycle/cardio fit classes tomorrow.  I tried to get in some exerecise while we were away.  I brought my bands with me and I did some pilates and balance work....so that kind of helped me get by.  When we got back into town, we went to the gym and our bodies welcomed that familiarity of the equipment and exercise. If someone would have said to me 9 months ago, you'll reach a point when going to the gym or a fitness class will become so much of your routine, you'll miss it when you are away and can't get to the gym or exercise....I probably would have smiled politely and said uh huh....all the while thinking yeh...right!  Who are you kidding. But over the last 9 months that's exactly what has happened.  Who would have ever thought that a 63 year old body that never had much exercise except walking outside or on a treadmill would get used to and yes yearn for a good workout 5-6 days a week.
My body loves it....craves it.....thrives on it.  And yours can to...honest!  Think about these words:
It is possible. Nothing is impossible.  If you think you can't exercise or go to a gym.  Think again.  It won't happen overnight. It will take determination and will power.  It will hurt at first.  But start slow, challenge yourself, do a little more each day (even if it's just 1 minute more) and in 21 days, you will be amazed at how much more energy you have and how your body and mind will love you for your positive attitude and effort.

On "The Biggest Loser" this season....the theme is NO EXCUSES.  Let's make that our theme too.  Don't think of an excuse why you can't workout or go for that walk.  Think of all the benefits you will gain from getting started and continuing down the road to a new, improved, healthier you.

More to come.  Get off that couch and take a walk....or stand on one foot for 30 seconds to strengthen your core and build your balance.  You can do it....NO EXCUSES!
